It’s a well known problem that the electrochromatic element in the Z3M auto-dim mirrors fail and leak their corrosive liquid on the center console resulting in damages to the nearly irreplaceable panels at this point.

The newer style electrochromatic element is gel based and isn’t prone to leaking like the original. This core exchange uses the original OEM circuit board swapped over to the replacement glass and attached using 3M VHB foam tape. The unit is bench tested upon reassembly.

The mirror is also fitted with a new high-tuck DBG mirror stem pre-installed. The DBG stem requires hiding the power plug in the headliner (Coupes) or the windshield trim (Roadster) in lieu of it being hidden in the OEM stem.

The DBG mirror exchange is a direct replacement for BMW PN 51167891423

The mirror is simple to remove by popping the covers off the stem and disconnecting the plug. The stem removes with a twist 120° in either direction to detach from the windshield mount.

Already have updated glass but want a pre-installed high tuck stem? These are your options to get a mirror stem installed in the back cover with the wiring routed and the case repaired. You’ll swap the glass and front cover from your existing mirror and return the OEM parts.

Option D: Stem only refit service

$220 return shipped via UPS

Conditions:

• Minor cosmetic flaws for a 20+ year old mirror is expected.
• All mirror glass replacements will come with a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.
• Buyers will be responsible for any shipping to me for warranty work.
• Included shipping is for contiguous US only (international, HI/AK available with added cost)
• Cores received with more than minor cosmetic flaws will forfeit their deposit
• Requires the autodim plug to be relocated to the headliner/winshield trim
